เนื้อหาย่อ : Success in college-level mathematics courses begins with a good under- standing of algebra, and one goal of Precalculus, Third Edition is to help students develop this understanding. Another goal is to show students how algebra can be used as a modeling language for real-life problems. Although we review some of the basic concepts of algebra, we assume that most students in this course have completed two years of high school algebra. New to the Third Edition Many users of the second edition of the text have given us suggestions for improving the text. We appreciate this type of input very much and have incorporated most of the suggestions into the Third Edition. Every section in the text was revised or considered for revision, and some sections were completely rewritten. Many new examples and exercises were added throughout the text. In addition, examples, exercises, and applications were revised and updated to expand the students' opportunities to practice their algebra skills. There is increased emphasis on the proper use of scientific and graphics calculators and graphing utilities in problem solving. Many examples and exercises now contain real data with credited source lines. Discussion problems were added to every section of the text. Each chapter now includes a two-page technology feature, and an introduction to graphics calculators was added to the appendix. New cumulative tests offer additional review after every three chapters.
