She opened one door, and there on the floor in the empty room was a phone. "Hmm, Mom and Dad didn't know there was already a phone here," she said to herself. "The men must have used it when they were working on the building." Kate went back to the apartment and began unpacking the boxes in the kitchen. As she climbed up and down putting things away, she got hot and tired. So she went outside to get some fresh air. Kate sat on the front steps and watched the cars going by on the highway. Suddenly her attention was caught by a long line of trucks headed toward the city. The trucks were bright red, white, and blue.
