wwts book has been written in the hope that it will be of real value
aa dbe student and instructor of wood patternmaking, and also the
morestice patternmaker and journeyman.
The book is divided into two parts. The first part presents general
aedated information as well as pertinent specific technical data. The
wczed part consists of jobs, which are aimed to give the student
aining in fundamental skills and procedures, in logically grad-
wbed sequence.
Applications in patternmaking are so varied that the author
gurded it advisable to stress general fundamentals as far as
eble and not to restrict his treatment to the specific instruc-
an of a limited number of patterns. With a sound and thorough
ng in fundamentals, the student is well equipped to make
naid individual progress and to do much of his own pattern
ming and designing.
This material is the product of the author's experience as an
udustrial patternmaker and instructor of patternmaking. It has
eem used successfully in both the classroom and shop. Additions
ad revisions were made until the book assumed its final workable
The course in patternmaking is laid out for eight semesters,
9B to 12A inclusive. With the instructor's assistance and the
of this book, the student will be able to make simple patterns
will be adequately versed in the skills and techniques of all
phases of patternmaking.
