เนื้อหาย่อ : The development of this series in Machine Shop Practice followed a careful usis of this entire area of training to determine those skills and related theory etal to each specific division of the trade. Thus, it became evident that the main aains of machine shop practice included Bench Work, Measurement, Drill Press nt.Lathe Work, Milling Machine Work and Shaper Work. Unit courses were de- aped in each of these machine shop areas and, simultaneously, the necessary eanses ia blueprint reading and mathematics were similarly prepared. a has been well proven that operational skills alone are not enough for trade peeary of the machine operator, let alone the machinist. Each operation involves e meory as well as process. For this reason, two types of instructional units euploged: (1) Trade Theory Units (2) Fundamental Process Units. The trade theory units present basic theory and related technical infor mation w as descriptions of machine tools and accessories, principles governing machine , application of formulas to specific job requirements. This informa- n a essential to provide the trainee with the background trade knowledge necessary pezrlra machine shop operations competently. Each trade theory unit is directly reiated with the fundamental process unit to which it applies. The fundamental process units, as the name implies, present manipulative skills a seg-by-step procedure. These skills are presented in each unit course in a ul seppence, that is, proceeding from the simpler skills to those more complex. The instructional units selected are those which are common to the machine a evision which the text covers. Because of the varying instructional needs of suadhine shep training, ranging from the teaching of machine operators to journeyman duiscs, the unit courses are published as individual texts.
