เนื้อหาย่อ : This book is written for electrician trainees in vocational-technical schools,
technical-institutes, and industrial apprenticeship programs.
In keeping with its title, Introduction to Electrical Wiring, attention is
centered on single-family dwellings, both urban and rural. Once the reader has
acquired experience in the wiring of such structures, the changeover to
commercial and/or industrial systems should proceed smoothly.
This is an entirely practical text. The only mathematics used-and
sparingly-are arithmetic and the most elementary forms of algebra.
All methods discussed are in accordance with the 1975 edition of the
National Electrical Code (NEC), published by the National Fire Protection
Association, 470 Atlantic Avenue, Boston, Mass. 02210. All students, trainees,
and apprentices should have a copy or be able to easily refer to one.
The book is divided into five parts. Part 1 is a simplified but entirely
adequate treatment of the basic concepts of electricity, magnetism, and
illumination. Part 2 deals with the sizing, characteristics, and permissible uses of
various types of electrical conductors and introduces the reader to common
circuit components, such as switches, receptacles, and fuses. Part 3 covers the
general considerations involved in any wiring job, such as wiring methods,
grounding, the sizing of service entrances, and the provision of adequate lighting.
Part 4 gives detailed instructions for the installation of complete wiring systems
in buildings either under construction (new work) or already constructed (old
