Since the beginning of time man has asked ques- tions about the universe that contains earth. Because man could not travel into outer space and examine distant objects first hand, he did the next best thing. He invented the telescope which al- lowed him to see more clearly the things that baffled him. Today, thousands of telescopes, large and small, are pointed toward the sky. People all over the world are peering through these instru- ments. With man-made satellites circling our earth and travel into outer space close at hand, more and more of us are turning our faces kyward as we wonder what new adventures lie ahead
