He has a wide range of teaching experiences in elementary, iunior, and senior high schools, including Burris Laboratory School at Ball State University; has conducted in-service education workshops for mathematics teachers; is actively engaged in pre-service education for mathematics teachers, and is co-author of the Elementary School Mathematics series. Charles F. Brumfiel Professor of Mathematics at the University of Michigan. Formerly, he was at Ball State University where he helped to originate the Ball State Mathematics Program; has directed many National Science Foundation institutes; has served as consultant to the School Mathematics Study Group and the African project conducted by Educational Services, Inc.; has written articles for the Mathematics Teacher; has contributed articles to the twenty-seventh and twenty-eighth yearbooks of the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics; and is co-author of Addison-Wesley's Ele- mentary Mathematics for Teachers, and other mathematics texts. Merrill E. Shanks Professor of Mathematics at Purdue University. He helped to create the Ball State Mathematics Program at Ball State University; has taught in National Science Foun- dation and General Electric summer institutes; has served on the advisory board of the School Mathematics Study Group and on the board of governors of the Mathematical Association of America; is on the advisory board of the I|linois Arithmetic Project; is an associate of the Comprehensive School Mathematics Program of the Central wester Regional Laboratory (CEMREL); has participated in the Afri conducted by Educational Services, Inc.; and is co-author of several of the Addison- Wesley iunior high and secondary school mathematics texts as well as texts on differential equations and calculus at the university level. Charles R. Fleenor Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Ball State University. He teaches in Burris Laboratory School where he has been actively engaged in teaching mathematics to students, pre-service mathematics teachers and in-service mathematics teachers; has served as demonstration teacher and lecturer at several National Science Foundation Institutes; and is co-author of the Addison-Wesley texts Pre-Calculus Mathematics, and The Elementary Functions.
